Says Best sounding custom Alembic ever made...: Click here (http://muziek.marktplaats.nl/snaarinstrumenten-gitaren-bas/87593469-de-alembic-bas.html?return=eJxNzMsKwjAQBdB%2FKdhdm0fVxpQi%2BidRg4bmRWaKVfHfTcSFmzvnDsMoyeTLSDqA5FTI6pTCHfRwQ4ySkClE7Vun0oTRKoXQekvc%2FDR6arRvjAdMs9MetSfglUr%2Fm%2BZqUKU8TwrIuV%2F37Q2d3ceR1eb6DRgFrRebfYERw6o7sFV3tDkOPReFvHDdF2Lm08TCJZNTKvj3%2FJHbZtsxscstzr8vAUy5qob3By%2FvRxQ%3D#photo target=_blank)

After-hours special?
-
Maybe after HAPPY-hour special.
Weird body shape.
-
Is it neck through construction?
-
The pickups look like SC-1/AXY pickups and have the expected type of mounting. I can't tell if the electronics are Alembic, can't see 'em.
The tailpiece and bridge don't look quite right to me. The logo isn't right. No comment on the body shape. Neck to body area of the neck is also not in our style. Serial number?
I've never seen this instrument before, so I sorta doubt from the claimed age it's one that was made here. My guess is that some of the parts were used from a Series I bass that may have suffered some irrepairable damage.
-
Hey, Flip, can you do a crop-and-zoom on the headstock like you did the body? I can't figure out how to do it, and I'd like to see the logo if we could. Thanks.

Don't crop the headstock. I can't stand all those jiggery-pokery string ends.

Zooming probably won't reveal much for the peghead. It looks like a Roman numeral 10 from here.

Mica,
What's really important is that it would magnify all those jangly bits.
Aaaaaaaaaaugh! My eye!

I've emailed the seller yesterday and also asked for a serial number, no response yet...

I was thinking the same, the bridge could be genuine I guess? (hard to see) and the truss rod cover looks like an early '80s (though easy to replicate). I also thought I've seen a tailpiece like this here on the board somewhere... I don't think it's a modified bird tail piece The screws are too far apart.

Unfortunately, the ad has been removed, for those who can't read Dutch ;-)
I did report this bass and send the seller a link to this thread, maybe Mica also asked the seller to remove the ad? It's unlikely the bass was sold... It's only been on that site for a few hours.

I requested some pics of the electronics and hardware. It was sold to the seller as an Alembic, he never checked if it was genuine.
