That's my old custom Mica made me in 2000 - loved the look but couldn't get happy with the sound - I guess I am too fussy for a non working musician lol - sold it for ?3500 in 02, then it sold on Ebay last year for ?2800 - I am guessing it may go slightly higher this time.

The listing says its configured to hold an upgrade to SII electronics. Do you remember if the bass has been wired to be run via the SII cable and psu in its current state as well as battery?
Also is it stereo out via the jack?

It is stereo out via jack with mono-stereo switch as it is anniversary electronics which are stereo. However, the configuration as 'series-upgradeable' only means that it has a hollow body and the correct routing for an upgrade to Series I or II electronics, so the 5 pin (and hum canceller) are totally dummy as stands and the bass can only be powered by battery (single 9 volt) not by power supply and lead. If the upgrade is ever undertaken, it will need a full set of 18 volt series electronics, pick-ups, hum canceller and 5-pin socket wired in at that time - an expensive operation unless you are transferring them out of a well-sourced series instrument. Tempting to me, too! I have to keep reminding myself it wasn't the right one for me, or I wouldn't have sold it in the first place. It is a very pretty bass, that's for sure - just had a very reedy thin sound I couldn't seem to funk up the way I wanted. If I had the funds to stick in Series I electronics I bet it would be sweet. I just don't like the anniversary electronics sound - in fact at the time I regretted not sticking with ordinary signature electronics, though of course stereo output has its advantages. It was also the most expensive thing I ever had custom made, so I always see it and think 'hey that is mine!!!' lol

Sold for ?2850 - exactly what it went for last year too, which proves a used Alembic holds its value well after initial depreciation from new. Anyone here buy it?
