20 yrs ago I installed one of these on a Tele bass (I actually still have it!).  I thought it would turn my POS bass into an Alembic.  Didn't work out quite like that.

I put two in a row on an old ibanez strat...It's too bad at the time I didn't have any tube amps to really see what it could have done or if it was overkill at some point in the signal chain...as a hot signal into solid state is not quite the same.
I bet some trimmer pots inbetween might have helped if there was any possibility of pleasing sounds.
Most my guitars are passive now...

How did the stratoblaster do with the lower frequencies from the bass?
 cheers

I rewired the bass w/just a volume (no tone) knob. Therefore, the usual resistance of the pots was lower and the bass had an inherrantly brighter sound.  Other than boost the output a bit, it didn't do much to the tone.  Understand I had completely destroyed a vintage instrument at this point!!!  I should take it out of the bass and put it in my Strat.

I recently put a Blaster into a new MIJ 12-string Strat. It does great things for it. More info is in another thread somewhere.
