Gibson Grabber customized by Alembic? $4999.00
link (http://cgi.ebay.com/GIBSON-GRABBER-Bass-Guitar-1977-ALEMBIC-RARE-Custom_W0QQitemZ290239143365QQihZ019QQcategoryZ118984QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Quote As you can see it was customized by ALEMBIC and therefore is rare and ONE OF A KIND!
They posted many good pics, but I don't see any markings that show Alembic customized it?
They do not show the electronics, so can't be sure what is in there but I would say the pickups and electronis together would make a good upgrade in sound at least....
Anyone have any info on this bass?

Looks like the seller is ingesting a particularly fine grade of cannibis sativa. A Grabber will generally bring about $500-$700 on the market, and even if you add the Alembic electronics, I wouldn't pay much over $1200 for this.
I paid about $650 a few years ago for a Maple/Maple Gibson Ripper. It's a factory second, too. These folks are seriously on some very good drugs if they think they're going to get anywhere near $5K for this bass.

LOL, just because it has Alembic P/ups & possible electronics that warrants a $4500 price hike!
I'd want series II componants for that...
Give me the number of his dealer!

From the ebay listing:
This model was Gibson's first made bolt-on neck bass made.
WOW! HOLY LOW FREQUENCY BATMAN!!!!!! A real, honest to goodness BOLT-ON neck!!!!!! I gotta get this. Then I want to buy a Fender SOLID STATE amp, a DIGITAL reverb unit, and a Yugo with an Alembic bumper sticker to haul it around!. Oh yea, and one of those new fangled propeller aereoplanes in case I get a gig out-of-state! hehehehe
