Title: Turner an BassNW
Post by: elwoodblue on July 23, 2008, 05:58:46 AM
For a deluxe P-bass style...this (http://www.bassnw.com/Used%20Basses/rick_turner_electroline_EL434PM.htm target=_blank) looks appealing .The diamond passive pickup stands out subtly.I might wander in there sometime...maybe the headstock won't seem so 'chunky' in person.

Has anyone played these turner bolt-ons?

The piezo is the interesting bit.  No 4-strings for me, though.  I tried, I really did.

I played a Model One (with the deluxe preamp that included semi-parametric EQ) for about a year and liked it, but not enough that I didn't jump at the chance to trade it for another Series 2.
No complaints about the build quality, but not having a bridge pickup was a problem for me. The piezo is about the best I've tried, with no high-end 'quack' and a nice tight low end, and I found it useful for cutting through muddy mixes. With the parametric (which the BNW Turner lacks) switched off, it recorded wonderfully. I occasionally miss it.
