Kind of a cute little Stanley Clarke Signature. I told the seller I need better pictures to raise my bid on it. If I was very serious on this, no one would know I was around until the auction was over. But I am curious to know more about it and may even decide I like it.

I saw that one on the 'bay. Very nice looking quilts. If not for my inability to justify expensive instruments to cover needs already covered by others, I'd love to own a pretty quilt like that. Good luck deciding whether you like it.
-
Opps, I popped the reserve too early. Silly me. Well, no secrets on this auction. This is not really my type of bass, but I like maple sound, and it is a Moe little bass. (Moe = Japanese = cute). If anyone has history on it, please share. If anyone wants to bid on it, don't let me stand in your way.
-
Bass could have been bought with Buy It Now $3995.00, looks like seller will make out on this deal. Anyone know what average sell price on this would be?
-
I *so* had my finger hovering over the BIN button until *someone* killed it. :P I was just waiting for a deal with my Essence to solidify...
-
I am one of the bidders on this item, but I likely will let it pass on.(http://club.alembic.com/Images/395/55756.jpg)
It is a nice one.
-
hey poor_nigel
If your a flipper I have a 85 flame maple Spoiler Exploiter for sale fer a good price....if this Stanley Clark had beeen a 5er even poor_nigel would'nt have known I was around at end of auction! Silly Me Too!
Best of luck Devon
-
Hey Tomas ...are you bidding on this bass?
I am not but I see a battle beginning.I'll bet this could get pricey at the end. Sure wish it has another string.
I think this is a drop dead gorgeous bass!
-
I am no longer in the market for a bass. Good luck to the bidders on this one.
-
wtf? Bid retraction? OK, I was under the impression that if you were outbid, you lost the item. But, bid retraction? I just bought a BB and can't afford this anymore. What a bunch of bull$%#@. Advice?
-
Wish I could help... that is what I am looking for. Only have my Hyak for trade (in the for sale & trade section).
Devon, if you must have your bid retracted.
-
hrm, the first retractor bailed after chasing me over my max, then claims to have entered the wrong bid. The second retractor claims the seller, who has %100 positive feedback, has very poor feedback. So lame.
-
The one bid was retracted and the other bid was cancelled by the seller due to poor feedback by the bidder and no email as requested.
-
Ah, I realized that just now.
-
I can't really retract since I don't have a good reason in ebay's eyes. *All* bids are binding, so thinking you lost and spending the money isn't a legitimate excuse.
-
Hope this works out for you. It is a beauty! Over a day left on the auction, one never knows.
-
Is it OK to ask the seller to cancel my bid?
-
Of course it's OK to ask. The seller could refuse but may grant the request and not want waves. The sellers auction isn't looking so good right now and an SC bass usually does well at auction.
-
Well crap. Does anyone want a SC Deluxe with 3A maple top? Ending bid plus shipping! Available tomorrow! :D *sigh*
-
If you don't want the bass, retract your bid.
Don't ask the seller to cancel it.
EBay only cares if they get several complaints about you.
You are welcome to email the seller with an explanation, but I doubt he cares.
Just do it as soon as possible so the other bidders have time to react.
-
I'll give the seller an hour or 2 and then retract.
-
eBay - gotta love the place!
You are in a tough spot. Any serious bidder knows your top bid now and could slip in and bid a dollar less just out of meanness (some people are just that way . . .). That or hopefully out bid you by a dollar. I imagine that your top bid was closer to $4,000 than it is now (I quit paying attention). You might want to eat your pride and play Murphy's law, as you are not in a good position here. I have been on eBay for a very long time. It is the black market of the world, and some not nice people hang there. I am a firm believer in a deal is a deal. Even on eBay, my bid is my word. However, in your circumstances, I would not hold it against you if you retracted your bid.
-
Yeh, I was seriously worried about that too. Bid retractions and cancellations are a serious pain. They totally leave you exposed for abuse of the system. Any jerk ebayer or someone scheming with the seller could take me up to my max. The only option i think at that point is to retract.
Not that I deserve any sympathy. It warns you about retractions right next to the place bid button!
-
the seller was totally understandable and seems like a great guy.
-
e mail sent
-
e mail sent to who?
-
Devon, so do you still need an out option by another bidder?
Steve
-
nope. i'm in the clear... that is unless there's another retraction.
-
good news...sounds like there may have been some sort of sceaming going on that back fired or sometimes wierd things like this just happens! There will probably be a last second bidder come in or e snipe.
-
I too expect that last minute flurry on this SC beauty. The BIN was the probably the way to go on this bass.

off subject a little...can the front strap mecanism on the body of a SC be relocated under the short upper horn?
