Check out this Auction on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Alembic-Brown-Bass-Mint-Cond_W0QQitemZ160283467709QQihZ006QQcategoryZ4713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). Is this a joke or a bargain ?

It'd be worth a plane ticket to go pay and pickup in person, even at the BIN mentioned in the ad. Apart from the price, however, it seems strange that this guitar: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sea-Green-Rickenbacker-330-Rarest-Color-of-the-Year_W0QQitemZ160283472531QQihZ006QQcategoryZ4713QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.com/Sea-Green-Rickenbacker-330-Rarest-Color-of-the-Year_W0QQitemZ160283472531QQihZ006QQcategoryZ4713QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem) seems to be up for the same deal as the BB.

And neither of them show up if you get a list of other items currently listed by that seller.
-
Both were listed in the last hour, suggesting they might not be fully in the listing (for instance, things can not be searched by name for at least an hour after listing). However, it looks likely that the seller's account was hijacked in this case - in the past 6 weeks or so, the seller has sold no instruments of any kind - just low priced ceramics, jeans and shirts. It's notable that the ads for both items direct the looker to Email directly to a stated address, rather than to use the Ask a Question function. I Emailed the seller to question the legitimacy of the auction. Frankly, I'd be game to chase this item if it looked legit, but I'm currently awaiting delivery of Guild M-85 being shipped from a pawnshop in Canada - one dodgy transaction at a time, thank you (LOL)!

Devon,
Have you notified e-bay? I noticed the link for your bass was ended early due to a buy it now. Don't want the bidder to get scammed.

I notified them, the Fender items have already been removed.
-
It has now gone. Dirty scammers!
-
damn right I notified ebay. But the BIN one is mine. BINed that one hard!

Do I get to join if my guitar was used in a scam? My '76 Series I has turned up in several auctions, the last one from Germany. On the other hand, every cloud has a silver lining. I initially met Mica on line when she emailed me with a warning right after I won Dragon Magic, the 10/02 COTM on ebay (scam, of course) for around $1300 as I recall.
