Title: Further on Ebay
Post by: tdukes on September 30, 2008, 02:21:00 PM
Starting bid $3499. No reserve.

If I hadn't just got a Tribute, I would bid on this. The pictures aren't very good, but the guitar looks great.

We must officially be in a recession; I can't believe that there are still no bidders on this beauty at that price.

I don't understand the rhyme or reason of bidding early on ebay.  It seems to me that all you accomplish is driving up the price.  If I want something, I wait until the end to bid. The only time I bid early is if I know I'm going to be away from a computer when the auction ends.  I'll bet you dollars to donuts that this guitar won't sell that cheap.  Heck, if no one else bid, I'd be tempted to buy it myself and flip it.  In addition, maybe it's my new glasses, but the listing picture seems to be at a weird angle or something that makes the guitar look a little deformed.

Anyone who's ever done surfcasting knows that once the bait's out there, more than one crab will come. Items which are getting bids attract more bidders like crabs... Great for sellers, not so great for bargain hunters. There's a lot of psychology in eBaying!

VERY little seems to be selling on eBay right now.

There are some very expensive instruments sitting with no bids on them even though the opening prices are pretty low. Anybody foolish enough to start with a low price and no reserve is getting taken to the cleaners! A couple of instruments that previously would have sold for >$1000 have sold for

A   1956 Les Paul (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180294796595&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching) just went for $22k.

I find this amazing.

ps. Who bets it wasn't a guitarist that bought it.

This guitar has been under the bed since 1976 and was only played in Church..

I'd sure like to know how many years the seller spent selling used cars. LOL

Without a reserve?  The Blue Book on this guitar ranges from $25,000 for 60% good condition to $60,000 for 98% mint condition.  I smell something rodent-like.

It looked like a really cool guitar. Has it arrived yet?

My tribute has become my favorite guitar for now (along with my Byrdland which is also my favorite) I am sure you will love this further.

Rushfan it saddens me that someone so young is caught up in this financial turmoil.  At 13 years old, you should truly be enjoying life and not worrying about the recession, inflation, or a financial depression.  I have facial hair older than you.  Leave the worrying to the oldies around here.  By the way, many of us can't afford anything much more than $1200 and we have been employed 45 plus years.  Keep the faith, pursue your dreams, turn 18, then start worrying.  hehehe

yes, its here, yes, its very cool and yes, how could i not love it?  quickly becoming my fave too.

the neck feels great and i love the way it vibrates/resonates with the notes you play.  the amount of control you have over the tone is excellent.  two big thumbs up here, for sure.

i have other guitars, a 64 strat, 65 jag, bill nash t-63, and a guild bluesbird. they're cool too, but the further just blows them away.  i will probably be selling the tele, the jag, and the bluesbird now, it just doesnt seem like i need them anymore.

Paul:

Congrats and welcome to the Further wing of the Alembic club!  Enjoy that puppy!  I assume it came with a case but, if not, I have one I'm not using.
