Congrats Lalo! Beautiful bass! (http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_purebrilliance.html) And great layout Mica; I really like the wallpaper!
-
Wow! Stunning bass, congratulations Lalo! Nice pictures Mica.
-
i love the maple fretboard, heck, i love the whole thing!!!

While a beautiful instrument, I just can't get jazzed about the triple O body shape. To each his/her own as they say. Congrats, Lalo.
Alan

Congratulations !

One more question ....
Alembic has said repeatedly that they don't do maple fingerboards for any number of reasons. Yet here we see a custom featuring one. How is it Lalo rates one and most of the rank and file don't? If I were to order a custom Essence with a maple board, would I get one? Not tryng to stir up a hornet's nest here, just asking a question.

Alan. Mica's quote from the FTC on this bass... From time to time, someone compels us to make a Maple fingerboard:
So I guess if your reasons are compelling enough they'll build you a maple fingerboard.
Congratulations on a beautiful bass Eduardo. If I ever get approval for another custom it'll be a triple'o'.

Hi
thank u every one for the kind words!
I'm the father of the Featured Custom and I'm extremely happy and proud to be the owner; it sounds REALLY good!
I have a huge collection of almost 50 basses, but this one is very very special!
For years Alembic had maple fingerboards in their website as an option...these guys can do anything ! So I'm sure they will do an Essence if you want it... No other bass company is so flexible and open to please the customer!
It's an honor to be in the featured custom because Alembic keeps building impressive instruments month after month....
Best (bass?) wishes to all,
Lalo Garcia

A bonus picture for the Club:

And I guess I made the point too subtly so I added to the Featured Custom. Basically, Lalo has compelled us to stop resisting Maple fingerboards. It's not a question of rating, it's a change, and those who like Maple fingerboards will think it's for the better.
But we still won't make a long scale Small Standard bass :P
So, is that gonna be a Coco Bolo top on that Essence, Alan?
-
Eduardo, let me just say from the bottom of my heart...
You have exquisite taste in basses. This bass may be called: Spooky however, I don't see nothing spooky about it. Maybe I missed the joke...
In my opinion, this bass captures the top '5' Baddest Alembic basses I ever seen.
When I say Baddest I mean: Supreme Beauty Eminence of everything I ever seen...
I truly hope you continue to stay in contact with Alembic.com to allow people like myself to see action shots as you plow through the pages of time.
With those huge black bar of soap Alembic pickups will really make ebony stripe laminates POP out at anybody who looks at this bass.
This bad boy is Super BAD!
Thanks.
I said this back then... I still mean it today.
Peace and Love,
Hal-

Mica - actually, I like quilted maple and birds eye maple better, though coco bolo is no slouch either ;-). Now, if we could only figure out how to fit Series II electronics into that small Essesnce body ... ;-)
-
Thank You Hal!
I wish you could here this thing! It almost sounds like you are slapping when you are playing fingerstyle!!!
-
Congrats Lalo! Your bass is now one of my favorite Alembics! I've always liked maple fingerboards, and the birch body gives it a great look.
I like the birch Spector too...

Cool solo!!!
-
my jaw hit the ground in that solo.....
~Taylor

AJD, talk to Will Gunn; he has figured out the Series electronics in a small body. You will NOT believe the ingenious way he did it.
I like the idea of birch, what a neat wood, and not that obscure or hard to come by. Cool to see an Alembic in a not-Martian-wood ! I'm tickled for you Lalo, but it will take a while to get used to the way it looks. On the other hand, I love the look that the body, fingerboard, etc., is all the same 'tone', color-wise, I have a soft spot for that 'butcher block' look. Many Congrats.

Lalo, your new Alembic is incredible. I also checked your link with no problem...except for all the drool I had to mop up! As a Spector fan, I can appreciate the uniqueness of your Spector collection in particular.

I said this months ago that this Bass has got to be a featured Custom & it is and my birthday's this month so Hey Lalo my Birthday is Oct 15th Hows bout one of those basses as a gift!...
-

Happy Birthday !!!

Hal-

Happy Birthday! At least you are giving me the option to choose which bass to give to you!
Please note that the Smith basses in my collection have Alembic pickups...they kick booty of course!
Yes Spectors are cool! The only reason I don't have more Alembics is price ... But I'm extremely happy with the ones I own...
Hi Hal! Nice to hear from you after some time....
-
Eduardo, this is your moment in Alembic history man.
I'd been waiting for your bass to hit
THE FEATURED CUSTOM PAGE for some time, and it did!
#12 hit it out the park, when he said your bass should be also worthy which I call The Alembic Hall of Fame; along with all the glory and bragging rights therein!
This is your moment brother man, enjoy it a lifetime!
I don't care what anyone says... That's a baddasss bass!
OH YEAH!!
Peace and Love,
Hal-

I like the analogy! The Hall of Fame!!
The only thing that feels weird is that the bass is the one who is famous... Not me!!!
I feel like the father of Babe Ruth... Who played baseball more or less well but was never as famous as his son...
It's ok, I feel proud nonetheless !
I get the feeling that your bass could make it there too... It's simply a Unique design...
-
Hey, Susan said it would join their prestigious honors in being a Featured Custom, and she followed through. So, if I live to see the Toma_Hawk up there with ya'll It will be a tearful moment, yet in a world great chaos, which world peace had not been solved.
But, I'll least have this attribute, of seeing your bass Ed.
Peace and Love,
Hal-

When you shine, we shine!

Oops... I was guessing that the bass in the video was the birch bass. Now I'd say it's the ash bass. Nice collection!
-
Good eyes my friend!

Hi
I had the chance to buy recently an 1989 Alembic Series 2 bass in MINT condition from Atomic Music; the price was way too reasonable... It seems the old owner did not like the bass because the batteries did not last more than a week (the bass has a blue power supply but no 5 pin chord! I guess nobody explained to him how to wire the bass!).
Any way, I'm VERY happy... It has a Koa body core (!) with Ebony top and back...it sounds KILLER...
You can see pictures at my facebook collection

thanks!!! Happy 2011

looks like someone likes their Spectors ;). i'm loving both of your Series II's. quick question though, how do you like the q-tuners in the Spector in your 2nd picture? i've been thinking of trying them out
~Taylor
-
The q-tuners are the BEST pickups I have heard (after Alembic pickups ... Which I also have installed in a couple of Ken Smith basses!). Q-tuners are VERY unique but I love the sound and frequency response; they have the highs of an Active pickup but with an organic sound ( and with no need for a battery!). They are great!
The problem is that they are Expensive and the production has ceased for now... They are looking for a business partner... Until then they are imposible to get ... I luckily have 2 pairs one installed in a Spector 4 and one installed in a Spector 5; Stuart Spector and his staff were very impressed
by the sound...
With that being said; both my Alembics are some serious Stuff! I'm in love with them... The second one with a Koa core and Ebony top and back is AMAZING! What a great combination of woods!!!

Hi
I know... There are some here
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=68239&id=1620480807 (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=68239&id=1620480807)
I did a bass solo with the Alembic I have the file in an email they sent me (I don't have a computer just an iPhone... That's what happens when u have too many basses... My car is also falling into pieces! Lol); any way... The point is Who can help me post the recording? If I send an email to one of you can somebody help me to post it here at the Alembic Club?
Please pardon my ignorance in the computer field!
Thanks!
Lalo Garcia
p.s. I can also email you photos of my new Alembic Series II.... And may be you can help me to post them here...

Hmmmmm...
Musician (mu-zi-shun): a mix of Latin and Greek words which describe a man/woman with a knowledge of music theory and it's practices in application (sometimes in the courts of royalty but mostly in the slums of society), usually has an addiction of some sorts be it: alcohol/drugs, women and the most debilitating- expensive instruments. Also known as a Broke Sumbitch!
Most are noted by their shabby clothing, some with poor hygeine..sheesh, automobile in constant need of repair, reluctance to be in a commited relationship with ONE woman/man and a steady supply killer axes!
I've seen Lalo's collection of Spectors on another site and it makes me drool. What a collection it is. Get down Lalo!
-
Lol... That was hillarious where did u find that definition? I'm sure that fits several of us at the Alembic Club... Oh well.. Life is short ... Why not do what you love?
Thanks for the laugh ... I needed that!
-
Find it? I lived it my friend, I..lived it....
Laughs are what I'm here for.
-
No shit! That was funny but I had not analyzed until you mentioned it... I had not bought clothes for myself in 20 years...! (NO joke!) All the new clothes I have have been gifts from family and friends (For Xmas and Birthdays!)...but last year I broke that pattern... I decided to buy a bright Orange Alembic T-Shirt with the Alembic Logo in Rainbow colors... (it did not work since Mica sent me the shirt and returned my check ... Nice Person she is...!).
Any way: who can help me post these pictures and the bass solo I did??? Any volunteers?
Email me:
Eduardo_maynez@yahoo.com (mailto:Eduardo_maynez@yahoo.com)
thanks!!!
-
Lalo; you can send pics to me and I'll post them for you. You can't post sound files to the board; but someone around here might have an account at a storage site online.
-
Thanks Dave! I will send you 4 emails With picures...
Thanks buddy!

Ok the pictures are posted... In the Showcase section...Thanks Dave!
