JPJ 8 string BecVar bass (replica) is  now on eBay. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=280287527778)
The description says the bass will be made by BecVar himself !?
We know BecVar guitars were no longer available, but...
Buy It Now price are $4000, but it is a Down payment.
The total cost are $18000 !
The price close Series 2 price.
Very interested one !
 
If Mr. BecVar open his workshop, we get another option of Alembicised instruments.

It certainly seems legit.  This one should be easy to verify.  Before dropping 18k, I would be on a flight to Hawaii to personally meet the Luthier, Mr. Bruce BecVar himself.  That would be my excuse to see the islands again...fond memories of days gone by.
