Title: Whats the story on this Left handed Alembic bass?
Post by: blackelan on January 25, 2009, 01:37:13 PM
He says it was made in the 90's but the config looks like a 89 or 90 that was refinished at some point.

The controls so not appear standard for a Europa. They look like a volume-pan-bass-treble setup. That would be considered a down grade on a neck through instrument. The price however seems reasonable assuming a factory finish.

Ad says it's an employee project, I think this could be from '99. (why 89/90?)
Reverse headstock, reverse bird tailpiece.. looks like a cool and unique instrument!

The reason I stated a 89/90 was because of the rounded truss rod cover and the pickups remind me of the standard config of most ELans from that era. I could be wrong in my assumtion...

That plate shape is used whenever there's a split pickup in the bass position. We made alot of Persuader basses in the late 80s and early 90s with this configuration. Elans and Persuaders from that time with AXY or MXY pickups would have the more rectangular truss rod cover.
