Check this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/L-K-Vintage-Alembic-Bass-or-Guitar-Power-Supply-L-K_W0QQitemZ120377386773QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item120377386773&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50) out. Does anyone know if Alembic ever made ones like this, or is this more likely a D-I-Y thingie? Inquiring minds want to know.

Total DIY, IMO.

I saw that earlier Bill, the add does state that it's NOT a DS-5, but maybe one of the original ones made by Alembic.
Things that make you go hmmmmm.

It looks like an old Alembic power supply to me. Although the one on EBay had it's power cord replaced and the 5-pin connector was changed from a Cannon to a Switchcraft.
To me it seems legit. There should also be transfer rub letters over the 1/4 inch outputs. They should be labeled B and T. It was strictly stereo and there was no mono output.
I have one that went through a flood that I modified. Since the aluminium casing was pitting badly from the saltwater, I painted it black. Then I converted it from stereo to strictly mono. It is kinda like my beater power supply that I take with me when I don't want to drag my rack with the IN-2 in it.
By the way the older ones also had serial numbers stamped on the rear of them by the power cord too. I will try asking the owner of the one on EBay if there is a serial number. That should confirm things a bit.

My '75 came w/ one like that.
It looks like this one here had some recent steel wool treatment.

I just got an answer from the guy with the power supply.
He said that there is no number on the back of this one. I still feel that this could be an Alembic supply. From the picture the aluminum box that the power supply is housed in is EXACTLY like the ones that I have. (Except for the one I painted black!)
Who knows. It could go either way.

Might be from a Fernandes copy.
