Saw this while I was browsing through ways to protect a lacquer finish. (I have some weird milky stain/spots in my finish that feel like they are under the lacquer on my Eastman archtop. Look like they are stains from some grime that might have gotten on the outside of the finish, but won't wipe away with polish and cloth. They are shaped like water stains, but I don't know how they could have gotten under the finish. I at first thought I might have accidentally sprayed something on the guitar and that it ate away at the lacquer, but as I said, it is flush with the rest of the finish and feels like its underneath. If anyone has any advice, it would me much appreciated)
Anyway, this guitar was on one of the sites I was looking through. Appears to be neck through, but could be a hippie sandwich bolt on. looks like carvin pickups? But I thought the switches looked very Alembic like. Then I noticed the bird tailpiece and alembic style bridge, and what seem like they could be oval fret markers. Could this be a guitar modified by the factory? Anyone have any info? It looks like a cool axe.

Looks like an Ibanez or Fernandes to me. They copied Alembic alot in the '70's. Definitely looks like a Japanese guitar from back then.

It's not a Fernandes, not a Roland, not an Ibanez I think...
I found this picture but no name:

Here's what it says on that page you linked, pierreyves
check out this badass Vantage
Vantage guitars were built in the famous matsumoku factory, japan. A ton of brands were made there.

Hard to tell without seeing it, but from the description of your finish problem sounds like this was contamination on the wood underneath the finish. Before the instrument was finished some oil or silicone might have gotten on the wood, wasn't cleaned off properly (silicone is pretty much impossible to eliminate), and the lacquer has released from the surface here. If this is the case, there's no way to fix it short of refinishing.
I would agree with the others on the guitar. In the 70's and early 80's many Japanese guitars featured very direct rip-offs of Alembic hardware and design.
