Title: EBay - ALEMBIC - MICHAEL DOLAN GUITAR - 70's VINTAGE
Post by: tdukes on September 17, 2009, 01:49:18 PM
Can be seen here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ALEMBIC-MICHAEL-DOLAN-GUITAR-70s-VINTAGE_W0QQitemZ320425371401QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item4a9ad72709&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)

Has some Alembic electronics. Interesting pictures, but initial bid of $6,999 is a little too high for me to consider a bid.

Todd.

The logo is Michael Dolan's regular logo.  I don't believe this was built at Alembic, but rather after he left.  Contrary to the description, Dolan made other guitars and basses in this style, though it's true that these days he appears to work in more traditional styles based on his website.  You can see his work  here (http://www.dolanguitars.com/index.htm).  There was a similar one in a little guitar store in San Rafael a few years ago that was discussed on this site.  I went there and checked it out as I've been looking for one of these for a few years, but the owner insisted it was an Alembic and was asking $3000 or $3500 as I recall.  I thought that was too high, and this seller certainly is asking quite a lot - I'll be surprised if he attracts any bids at the price.
