I just got my first F2B pre amp. I am currently scoutin for a QSC PLX amp.
Anyway, plugged the F2B into an old Peavey CS-400 laying around , plugged everything up and....nothing!
Frustration.....Opps....bad instrument cord (Brand New)
I was amazed at the first few notes I played and it only took a few seconds to dail in a tone.
I continued to have a very enjoyable night as did my band mates!
This pre amp is..well..simply amazing..amazing...amazing!
I now wonder if I'd done this 30 years ago if today I may be playing beside Stan, Jocko & Mark!
Did I mention the amazement!

I love my F-2B so much I have two of them - one on each coast!

Congratulations Steve,
Wait until you try cascading the signal!
You'll have the rest of your life getting great sounds out of your rig.

Ahhh...cascading signal?
You may have to cue me in on that!

Steve,
Plug your bass into channel A input 1 then take the output from the back of the preamp and plug it
into channel B input 1 thake the output from channel 2 into your power amp.
You get a warm rocky distorted sound. Do not worry you cannot damage the F-2B by doing this.

Can you get an only slightly gritty tone too? Like vintage tube amp, slightly overdriven, as opposed to the fuzz box craziness Heironymous posted somewhere else on this forum? Thanks.
-
You mean this (http://hieronymous.us/music/alembicfuzztest.mp3 target=_blank)? ;) It didn't occur to me to try less, I should have but this is the sound I gravitated towards!
-
That's the one- serious fuzz!
-
Yes you can.
By adjusting the individual channels outputs and tone controls you can
achieve either slight distortion or
hieronymous's fuzzy buzz box extreme zushy sound.
Spend a night going through a variety of settings it was fun for me.
Bonus is that you cannot damage the F-2B!
