Here's something (http://cgi.ebay.com/ORIGINAL-1970s-ALEMBIC-GUITAR-BASS-TEMPLATES_W0QQitemZ330375454758QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar_Accessories?hash=item4cebe96026) you don't see everyday. I wonder if they're real.

Hmmm....something I never thought I'd see,
even today. : )
I wonder when the last time Alembic factory installed an Old Les Paul' pickup.

The large head stock template looks like Irwin's head.
I think these were Irwin's template.

The shipping restrictions are weird (local pickup only, unless you want to deal with the UPS store, in which case they will drop off the items @ UPS). Almost sounds like they don't want to dircetly ship across state lines...

There is a template for a HI-A Bass pickup shown. I own a Bass that Doug Irwin installed a pair of Hi-A bass pickups into. Hi-A later became known as Bartolini. Doug Irwin worked on two projects for me in the 1970's. I still own one of them. I remember when he lent me one of his Doug Irwin Bass's to try out at a gig. That Bass had two Hi-A pickups in it that very well MIGHT have been routed out with the template shown. Maybe ! I Remember Doug to be quite a generous craftsman. I remember him in a positive light.

These are not Alembic templates.

I just put an old Hi-A guitar pickup on my 76 Ibanez Howard Roberts jazz box this week. It came out of an custom guitar I bought last year. It sounds fine, I must say. I don't think I'll be seeing too many of them. Puts out around 6.3 ohms.
