Title: Guitar Center Vintage
Post by: gregduboc on May 25, 2010, 09:42:05 AM
I don't know if these basses have been posted here, but I was cruising their webpage and found some basses that might be of interest:
Alembic Persuader Black (http://vintageguitars.net/products/dispProd.cfm?page=1&id=186762&&srch&year=&manufacturer=&model=&storeId=0&category=18)
Alembic Scorpion (http://vintageguitars.net/products/dispProd.cfm?page=3&id=186648&&srch&year=&manufacturer=&model=&storeId=0&category=18)
Guild Starfire (http://vintageguitars.net/products/dispProd.cfm?page=2&id=189698&&srch&year=&manufacturer=&model=&storeId=0&category=18)

I played that same Alembic Scorpion Bass about 1 year ago in the
 Guitar Center Hollywood store where the Bass is located.

I emailed GC about the Scorpion price when sonicus was nice enough to let me know about that bass several days ago in the Dreaming section...their price is around $6800-7000 if I remember correctly.  Probably more cost-effective just to order a custom...

It is my pleasure to share such experiences with all of you .
I thought that the price was bit high as well when I checked it out  when I played it. At that time they also had a 20th Anniversary  Omega
 Body style long scale Bass that I also played when I was at the  Hollywood store ,it appears that one has been sold since.The asking price was a little lower as I remember .

I like the black, single pickup Persuader! I've never seen a single pickup in that Persuader/Spoiler configuration.

Bill TGO has (or had) two Bonds - discussed here http://www.alembic.com/club/messages/395/17618.html?1112960314 (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=13076).

For a while they were selling Bond guitars for next to nothing in Boston. I guess they didn't go over too well and there was an excess of inventory. I tried them a few times in the stores but never really got a long with it.

As I stated in the above-referenced thread, the Bonds are very cool instruments.  I still have mine, along with two prototypes.  The prototypes are made of wood with Les Paul-type electronics, but have the signature aluminum fingerboard with the steps instead of frets.  If anyone is interested in buying one, or trading for one, let me know.  I'm always interested in things Alembic, neck-throughs in general, the unusual, or the just plain weird.
