Something wrong with this bass that I am not seeing? If I was not moving in two weeks to California, I would not be posting this, and would swoop it at the end of action. It certainly looks like a good deal at under $3K. Seller has good feedback, too.

Yes, I saw that . I was asking my self the same question ? There do seem to be a few dings and dents , etc. I say go for it ! It looks inviting. I wonder how the electronics are holding out and if there is an RF/noise issue?
-
And it belonged to the guy from Black Oak Arkansas! Go Jim Dandy, Go!
As for the RF/noise issue, I have a '76 Series I guitar and a '77 Series I 12 string guitar that have not had the upgrade and have no RF/noise problems.
Thomas: Welcome to the left coast. So whereabouts are you heading?

There was a SI for sale recently that had a repaired decapitation. I can't remember if it was this one or not.
-
I do remember pictures of this bass were used by scammers a few month back.
-
There was a thread here discussing a Series I on Ebay back in June (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=11503) which was also owned by George Hughen. I'm guessing it's the same bass; must not have sold last time.
-
Since there seem to be concerns about this instrument then perhaps it would be prudent to ask for a phone discussion with the seller before bidding if any one here is planing on going for it . I would ask for the FULL serial number for sure ! You could also discuss shipping and packing and insurance arrangements
or pick up in person as the listing mentions.

You can see the number is 76 504. I do remember seeing the photo of this bass somewhere before. It looks nice.

It's finally received a couple of bids. A little more than an hour left.
-
Perhaps, in the final minutes or so the bidding frenzy begins . I send my congratulations to the winner if they are an Alembic Club /Forum participant . I am not bidding . Auctions can be adrenaline producing experiences .

$2,850
-
Add in shipping and that's only $100 less than they've been selling for recently.
Long scale Series are a tough sell.

Long scale Series are a tough sell.
They are? That's exactly what I'd want.
-
Then you're in luck, they sell for several hundred below a comparable medium scale. Short scales bring even more.
