Title: Here's an interesting Elan on eBay
Post by: jedisan on October 25, 2010, 05:05:16 PM
Small standard body (http://cgi.ebay.com/Alembic-Custom-Elan-Left-Handed-4-String-Bass-Guitar-/110602891744?pt=Guitar&hash=item19c07231e0#ht_484wt_1136) with custom knob positions. And, hollow body cut out. Was that done at headquarters, or something someone did afterwards? Never seen a cut out like that before.

It's technically an Excel - but it's so custom it's hard to even consider it one anymore. Everything looks as I remember on this bass. What you can't really appreciate from the photos is the interior of the hollowed out area is lined in Purpleheart and has a complete high-gloss rubout just like the body. It's actually really really cool.

The original owner didn't keep it long, and I know it was sold at least 2 other times. It was at Atlanta Bass Gallery not too long ago - Jim was wishing hard that it was right handed!

An f-hole Alembic?  Geez, Mica, if it wasn't custom enough, the interior is lined / finished in purpleheart?  You guys ever sleep?

Just when you think you've seen everything, Part 27.
