Title: Now for something completely different
Post by: lbpesq on November 19, 2010, 06:10:57 PM
Here's (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/msg/2068334760.html) an unusual one currently on craigslist in the S.F. Bay Area.  Lefty Europa 4 string, metallic blue flake?, reverse in-line headstock, and check out the reverse bird tailpiece.

That looks like it could be one of the chromalusion finishes. The spelling was something in that vicinity... If it is, then the color will sort of change with different lighting angles - very cool effect.

Now that's a different turn on a theme!

There's no Logo on the headstock that I can see - is that usual?

And note the truss rod cover.

Epic eletronics and set neck?

If it's really volume, tone, volume, tone then not Epic electronics.  Of course if it's only been played four hours in the past 11 years, then maybe the owner is mistaken as to the controls.  If there is a build sheet, that would say.

Since everything else is unusual on this bass, it could be that the electronics are a modified form of Persuader electronics, with a volume and filter for each pickup; if it is indeed volume tone volume tone.  On the other hand, it may just be Epic electronics.

I too was thinking that perhaps it's a set neck, but it's hard to tell.  The truss rod cover tends to suggest that it's a neck through.

The lack of a logo, along with all of the other unusual features, should prompt any prospective buyers to ask for the serial number and a copy of the build record.  The seller states that it was purchased as an investment, so it may be that the build record is still in the case along with the tools.

A set-neck would not have that type of heel, so I'm guessing it is a neck-through.

My memory is telling me we've seen this one before here on the forum. I think this has been up for sale previously and that it's been linked here on the forum.  No time to search through the archives now, but does this ring a bell for anyone else?

Toby; the reverse bird tailpiece was ringing a bell for me.

Found it.  Toby was right; previous thread is here (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=11872).  And apparently the previous craigslist listing stated that it was an employee project.
