I asked for pictures and this was the response I got:
 
Have not taken any pictures due to time constraints. This is as new as it gets...no blemishes. You'd most likely find this bass on the Alembic website, but this one will cost you 2K less. I believe the body is walnut with ebony fretboard. I have all the paperwork it was shipped with. If it doesn't sell this time around i will make time to stage for photographs. With the current responses, I can't garrantee the same price.

I think you meant to say run as quickly and as far away from this as you can, until and unless real evidence is produced.  Even then caveat emptor.

I'm not interested in buying I was just trolling teh ebayz.

...and if I *was* interested in adding another 4 string Essence to the herd I'd be talking to  this guy (http://cgi.ebay.com/1992-Alembic-Essence-Bass-/250736570891?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item3a6110720b) about lowering his asking price by $600.  That red is dead sexy and would look hot next to the cherry burst and new blackness.
