It's not much of a picture.
-
It's pretty badly underexposed, but I coaxed out enough to see they are Exploiter body shapes:

Maybe a Spoiler in the rack on the right? I dunno.

A new breed of BS?
-
Graphite necks????
-
Thanks Mica,
Definitely a bizarre listing...I'd love to have three exploiters but I think I'll just have to settle for the one I own and love for now.
-
If the five is a 32 bass, I'll go in with anyone who wants the other two for an even third...
-
Yeah, bizarre listing, and the description given makes little sense. I think if I put up 3 Exploiters in one listing, I'd put up better pics!
-
if it is legit, 6K for 3 exploiters is not a bad price at all. Bob, i would totally go in with you if i didn't want the 5 string also ;-), though the 6 string would be really nice also, but no money :-(

Well, I contacted the seller twice for a better description and more pics. No response. 100% + feedback, but STILL, put up better pics, darnit. Who am I kidding, I'll probably get 'em anyways. I allready got a Dragonwing and a 5 string Series 1, might as well add to the herd. Yep, I am NUTZ.
-
Rich,
If it's a legit posting and you can get all 3 for that price, you can probably flip the other two (assuming you only want the 5) and recoup a good deal of the cash you spend up front.
Especially if these actually have graphite necks (?).... something about that seems odd to me- the timeline seems wrong. We need some David Fung or Mica input here on the possibility of graphite necks on these basses.
-
Yeah! Mica, any input/thoughts/feedback??
-
Well, standing offer of $2K for the five if anyone wants to buy these but doesn't want them all. This assumes a 32 scale length and reasonable condition but a few dings are just fine...

I can't find out if this posting IS legit.

Maybe his senior management laid down an ultimatum that entailed him having to list some instruments,
...and he complied with an auction few would take seriously . ( just a guess )
He probably didn't count on Mica's mad skills in working with digital images. I'll admit looking at three Exploiters ,
( with or without graphite necks) has got me drooling .
-
Weird...ended with 2 bids, but now it's not available for viewing and says the listing has been removed.(edit: I guess its viewable with the above link.)
...from fishy to fishier .

you can still can see the ad under completed listings. i copied his text just to have the reference here in the future. definitely an odd one - looks like the 2 bids were from the same person - sold for $5995.99 - would love to know how this turns out if someone here knows.

I picked 'em up. All are actual Alembics, all function. They needed some BAD TLC as they were strung bottom to top, loose volume pots, loose tuners, loose p/ups, minor fret buzz on the 4. All sound killer vintage Alembic. The 5 and the 6 especially are heavier than F%$*. NON graphite necks. All were recently refretted before sale and needed the frets smoothed down and beveled as they stuck out of the fingerboards slightly. All were neglected and covered w/ grime and goo and every point on all the bodies had at least a scuff. Some minor chips here and there. Bottom line, these babies were neglected!! Chips Music in Jacksonille FL has finished the repair work on the 4 and 5.

Rich, Congratulations! Glad to hear they've found a good home! Art

Thanks. I've played the five at a few gigs. It balances nicely, and once it was set up properly, it plays and sounds killer. Fast bass for a five. HEAVY but well balanced. The 6 string MAY go back on Ebay if I need the cash....too much of a beast for gigs. I'd hate to break up the set though.
-
U have the 4 ? R u keeping it ? If not how much r u willing to part w it for?
-
I am interested in the 6 string if you want to sell
-
I may sell the 4 and the 6. If I do, they'll go on ebay and I'll post the link here.
-
I see the 6 is up for bidding, it's nice to see some clear pictures...I might have to see what I can sell quickly to make a bid.
cheers
-
Yes, I have put the 6 up. Check it-

Thanks! I'm KEEPING the 5.......sorry, fellow Alembicans.
