I can't decide if I like this yet..... but it sure is interesting, striking.
Not keen on locking nuts though.

Definitely odd.  If not for the logo I would be half tempted to think it was a shop night instrument.  I can't recall having ever seen a triple O with exactly that sort of shape.

Looks like a C serial number, would likely be a legit Alembic...

Lower Omega looks a bit like two Tribute horns, certainly unique! Starting bid looks fair, Bill should be all over it by now :-)

This guitar is legit - I remember that guitar well. The customer drove up and selected the top woods, found an old stash of hard-to-describe Walnut and he flipped for this one.

The body shape was one where we started with something (I think it was 20th anniversary maybe) and then subtracted parts.

I'm gonna guess the trem was factory installed, because the guitar wouldn't be thick enough otherwise, and I do spy some threaded inserts where the backplate for the springs is missing.

Usually I can't say such things with certainty,  but this is the only guitar we've made in this shape (so far!). I know we still have the templates.

I'm trying to work out what the electronics package is.
Maybe filter + Q, master volume and on/off/bright for the three pickups?

i'd say it has the California Special electronic package which is what Jazzyvee described

Not my cup of tea. If it weren't for Mica validating it, I'd suspect it wasn't even a real Alembic.  And I hate those Floyd Rose type tremolos and the locking nut.  Good luck changing a string quickly at a gig.  You won't find me bidding on this one.

I think the Floyd Rose tremolo is one of the most ugly and needlessly complicated devices ever to plague a six string.  The few times I've changed strings on one I found myself employing an extremely colorful aspect of my vocabulary that I won't lower myself to voice here. I have to admit that I've never been a big fan of the Triple O shape, but this one is especially unsuited to my personal tastes.  To each their own of course, and to its credit, that piece of walnut is awesome.

So, what is the preferred wiggle stick setup these days?  I often thought the LSR (Land Speed Record?) roller nut and locking keys they used on some Strats made a lot of sense, but I don't know what the hot ticket is these days.

This may be one of those bass shapes that may not translate well to a guitar-sized piece.  That it's one of one may confirm that.

I have to admit that I don't currently own a guitar with a whammy bar.  The occasional benefit I received from using one never seemed to outweigh the tuning issues and sustain compromise.  I like the look of the Wilkinson, because it seems fairly unobtrusive visually.  I like the sound of Bigsby's, because they seem to get a lot of mileage out their subtle waver.  I've considered whether or not I will want one on a future guitar, but I'm not currently inclined to have one.  People like Jimmy Herring make it seem unnecessary anyway, and aside from some Pink Floyd songs my band plays, I don't much feel the lack of one.

I'm not really much of a guitar player, but locking tuners made a TON of difference with my Whammy-bar equipped Strat and PRS.  I have virtually NO string winding around the posts.  I bought a LSR nut, but never saw the need to install it after changing the tuners.  I've never used one, but the Tremsetter gadget seems like that might help with tuning (especially with getting tuned-up after changing strings) as well.

I believe Alembic recently installed a new type of whammy that they really liked.  I forget the name, but it did look really slick when I saw it.  I seem to remember a thread about it around here somewhere.

Bill, you must be thinking of Sunrise (http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_sunrise.html target=_blank) which has a Skyway whammy.

Yes Adriaan, that's the one I was thinking of.  I'm surprised it's for sale.  I can't imagine ever selling Woody, my custom Further.

I remember a walnut triple-O for sale a couple of years back. Maybe this is the same one, but I want to say that it had a reverse Elan style headstock, and no scorpion contours.

That thing is awesome. I was just thinking about what a triple omega guitar would look like. I would play that thing with pride, the triple-O has a cool medieval vibe about it. Maybe if it had two humbuckers, or at least two humbucker-shaped Activators
