Title: '76 Series #504 on ebay again
Post by: attmann on August 16, 2011, 03:43:26 PM
Hi there,
I find this to be interesting...
http://cgi.ebay.com/Alembic-Series-1976-Serial-504-All-Original-Ex-Cond-/260835654053?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2110305421820596362#ht_1296wt_1275 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Alembic-Series-1976-Serial-504-All-Original-Ex-Cond-/260835654053?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2110305421820596362#ht_1296wt_1275)
Since this bass got bought in an ebay auction last year there have been several attempts by the new owner to sell this nice looking bass again.
An auction in june failed, the winning (3k) price obviously was not high enough and so the seller simply claimed the bass to be damaged all of a sudden - and therefore being no more available. Resulted in a pretty nasty feedback left from the disappointed winning bidder...
Now the bass is up for auction again for the third time around -  back in pristine shape again (miraculously enough)...
Since no one really jumps on the auction (especially in regards to the relatively low  starting bid) I wonder if there are any issues with this instrument that I am not aware of...anybody have a clue?
Thanks & regards.

I e mailed seller and he replied:

Bass is exactly as pictured- no damage. High bidder was a living nightmare who quickly screamed demands- offered it to the second bidder (who never got back to me). I learned a lesson there, including a bidder can leave feedback at any time under any circumstances. I certainly made some errors when I saw how aggressive he was- plus he left many neg feedbacks for other sellers, handed them out like it's candy. I've been here since 2000 on and off and have only left one neutral from over 1000 transactions.
please bid with confidence- bass is packed and ready to go and will ship 1 to 2 days after receiving payment via UPS Ground. My one mistake in 10 years- live and learn.

Well it appears to have sold for $2550!
What a deal if seller stands by the sell.

Yes, indeed , if...
So the seller claims having had over 1000 transactions? His ebay profile shows he's had 177.
Anyways, congrats to the high bidder. I hope he does not get turned down for another obscure reason...

I got a warning from e-bay while bidding not to pay just in case of winning the auction, this guy is obviously a scammer, I don?t know how often he already put this bass to auction on e-bay in the past,
Peter
