Knobs look funny on the Elan, like a switch was replaced with a pot, or maybe it has other electronics. Check sellors other listings for the Europa. Nice looking bass.

Yes, it is interesting and appealing . When I first saw it an E A D G C F tuning fancied in my thoughts . Has anyone tried that tuning here ?
-
Sonicus, I have an Elan 5 with a high C and I've had it that way for years. so obviously I dig it. nice clear sound for solo's. I hope that helps.
-
Wookie, thanks for the reply. I had a 5 string that I tuned that way as well and I liked it too ,that is why I was wondering about a high F on a sixer.
-
I played my six with C-F top strings for many years, it's a fantastic way to tune a bass, especially if you play a lot of chords/triple stops. works very well with slap bass too, you can slap out chord patterns.
With this tuning my bass sounds like a classical guitar once you are up around the 11th fret on the top strings.
There are plain bass strings available from D'Addario for your F.
Cheers Garth

Thanks Garth , such a tuning really intrigues me . if I acquire a six string bass I will use the EADGCF tuning.

Wow that looks a lot like my bass. I have the Europa electronics but the same woods all around....
