I just called. The lady who placed the ad said someone is coming by in 10 minutes to look at it. She's going to call me if they pass on it.
-
Imagine if they still had the original elecs sitting in a shoebox somewhere? Score.
-
May the Bass Guitar Gods be with you and both the initial potential buyer not realize the value of his fine and it not be a scam. Regardless of the electronics package this would be a find in decent condition.

interesting..
a couple of years ago I was playing with someone in NJ and they mentioned they had a friend with an alembic bass that they had removed the pups from and replaced them with barts because:
while Alembic knows what they are doing when it comes to building basses, they don't know jack about pups and electronics
His quote not mine...I really had no idea what to say to such a statement...
-
Yep...And some people use leaves instead of toilet paper too! Yikes!
-
Wow, I'm speechless...

As to the comment regarding Alembic pups and electronics from that individual in glockes's post # 921 I think I may have inquired about what their qualifications were to make such a comment and perhaps ask them to rephrase their comment to I do not Like rather then don't know jack. If they don't budge it is also possible to pose technical questions to guys like that and make them squirm a little bit and get the truth out; that they them selves are the one who needs to look in the mirror and ask them selves 'What do I know ?

Now on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/110764545930)
The seller is including the original electronics, but states they need repair.

Bought it to flip? Can't blame 'em, I guess.

How is this a SII? There are toggle switches, and no master volume.

On the subject of Alembic electronics. I was bothered quite a bit by the statement that Alembic knows how to build a bass, but does not know jack about electronics and pups. Alembic does wood work and inlays and such at a very high level of comptence and craftsmanship. Obviously, even lower lifeforms in the world of the lowend universe know that much. However, I have found several basses that are made as well as Alembics. Pricey they are and worth their money, no doubt. But it is the signature and series electronic packages that make me go with the Alembics. They are the supreme difference in why I always choose Alembic over any other bass when I am looking for a nice bass to buy and enjoy. I like Bartolini stuff, but Ron's creations produce the defining sound for bass for me, and they are always the deciding factor on my buying a bass. They are the only ones that produce the sound I strive to attain when I pick up a bass. I have an old Tobias five string that Steve Wood sent to Alembic to copy the neck of for his custom basses Alembic produced for him. The Tobias' wood work is top of the line. Mike knows how to make a bass, that is a given. However, like Steve, if I could afford it, I would send the bass in and have Alembic make me a an Elan/Europa or Balance K using those dimentions and design, and then stuff it full of series electronics so I could get the sound I crave. Alembic is the best of both wortld of basses, and not just one or the other. Barts are nice, but they are not not up to snuff getting that sound in my head out of my speakers. Am I an Alembic snob? Probably, but this is the place for people like me, so . . . . Note for lovers of other electronics packages, GREAT - More for me and my snobby croonies who insist on what they want, and don't want to settle for less. This is of course just my opinions being stated, but I like em, so fine.

Thomas , I agree , I love the Alembic electronics in all my Alembics as well , it's my sound of preference when ever possible . I rank Alembic as BIG NUMBER ONE ! when it comes to active electronics .My opinion , my time and my dime and BEST of all MY BASS !!!!!_____
