Title: Very Interesting Guitar on Craigslist.
Post by: lbpesq on February 08, 2014, 03:20:51 PM
Check this one out.  Doesn't look like an Irwin to me, and I've never heard of this as a Jerry guitar before, but still very cool.

 Irwin Guitar? (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/msg/4325194297.html)

I've definitely seen that shape before,  quite probably right here. Distinctive - yes.

Very unique! I would definitely give a dollar for that!

I have a vague memory of seeing the body design before.  The horns look similar to some Veillette-Citron guitars and basses.  The head design is nothing like Irwin's, nor is the neck/body joint in back like Irwin's work.

That guitar was linked to here before w/ the same claim.

Cool looking instrument. Sellor must think Craigslist is like EBay, since he is asking for 'bids'. I hate that kind of thing.

It doesn't look remotely like any other Irwin I've seen. I wonder if he has any provenance.

I remember the last time I was talking gear with Steve Parish, my buddy Zach showed him his Michas wolf guitar, which was a string through body. The first thing Steve pointed out was there was no way Doug would ever have made a string through body guitar... and that was his only major criticism of that guitar. I'll go with my gut, Steve's advice, and that neck/body joint and say no... this is not an Irwin.
