Just saw this on Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/likefunkbass/photos_stream?ref=page_internal (https://www.facebook.com/likefunkbass/photos_stream?ref=page_internal)

The bridge looks eerily similar to Alembic's, with the exception of the body of the bridge being one piece, but the similarity to the original is definitely there.  Some of the bodies look like what he had Alembic build him.

Just thought I'd provide a link for those who might want to check into it.  Not making a judgment either way.

Awww, good for him! How does he do the no pots thing, I wonder? I remember a lot of people didn't even think these instruments existed.

Still haven't seen a finished instrument. The majority of the Facebook pictures that appear to be completed instruments are Photoshopped. He has even had a booth at a couple of NAMM shows but never brought any instruments. From what I've heard folks that have actually contacted Hal about trying one out get the run around about how great a luthier he is so there is no need to try before you buy.

As far as the original Alembic bass goes I'm sure it is up to typical Alembic quality standards and would make a nice bass for someone at the right price.

No one has ever questioned his Photoshop skills.
I will say no more.

I'm finally starting to understand this thread... I figured it must be one those jokes I simply haven't been around long enough to get.

Not a joke.  Just the nadir of the 11 years I've been hanging around here.

now you know...

and you are right. Time to move along and on to what many of us come here to experience: civil and informed discourse on our favorite instruments and related topics. Just my thoughts.
