Well, for 25 grand, you'd THINK it would come with strings !

Hmm, highly optimistic. We have seen many alembics on ebay over the years with inflated prices and they just stay there for ages then disappear, only to return later. and who knows what happens to them. When I see prices like that now I just think the seller does not really want to part with it.

This one does have a great story :-)
Also there's a make offer option, someone might get lucky...

I admit I felt guilty for not playing it so much after that and have finally come to grips with letting it go to someone who will hopefully appreciate it and play it.

Serious extra $ for the provenance of being played with Clapton?  Maybe if it had been Jack Bruce's.

Yeah 25K is crazy...
But I presume NE is not in need of big $$$, so if someone offers something around 5K it might get accepted...

Sounds more like an ad for Nathan East than a bass for sale.

I'm with Bill on this one. I wouldn't pay $1 extra for provenance unless the provenance included the instrument actually being played by the famous musician him/herself.

If this sells for anywhere near the asking price Jimmy should consider placing at least one of his up for sale. Given their more recent birthing I'm thinking that pricing somewhere in the neighborhood of the cost of a new sports car would be appropriate. And a VERY expensive one at that.

You see this on EBay from time to time, but it gives me the willies when they're selling a bass/guitar, and it's un-strung.  WHY is it un-strung, and more importantly, WHAT will it do when it's strung up?  Admittedly, this is less of a problem with solid bodies instead of acoustic instruments, but I've never understood why you'd picture and/or sell an axe with no strings . . .

BTW, even at full MSRP, a brand-new duplicate to this axe (with new/current electronics and DS5R) would run around 18 grand, and certainly a used equivalent would be a fraction of that asking-price (and remember friends . . . . . asking AIN'T getting !)

You know with the premise they are operating on, if I played it for a year it should be worth another $5,000.
