Title: For That Someone *REALLY* Special
Post by: edwardofhuncote on December 14, 2015, 08:00:43 AM
Sooooo wishing I actually knew a girl who would dig an Alembic pendant:

But seriously folks... this appeared on ebay about the time the mysterious orphaned logo disappeared. If it is the same one, it's on the other side of the country now. I have no idea if it's legitimate or not, but it darn sure looks real.

Somewhere or 'nother, I seem to remember seeing an Alembic advertisement with a (Wickersham) family photo with one of the ladies wearing one of these...  I may have dreamed it.

We did sell pendants for a while, and the lovely lady you remember is my aunt Mary modelling the pendant.

Of course, when the Fernandes basses came out, these pendants became part of many of those basses and we stopped selling them. Also, this design was not originally intended to be a necklace, and there's a weak spot that eventually breaks. It took me about 5 years of almost daily wear to bust mine.

I have an old catalog with the picture of your aunt Mary modeling the pendant. Not sure what year it is from but I suspect around 1983 or 4.

Alembic Logo Necklaces are available in sterling silver $25 ea. and gold vermeil at $40 ea. (chains not included).

Same catalog has a group photo modeling T-shirts that includes what looks like a very young Mica...

From $25 to $400. Wow, now that's what I call appreciation. Still, all the girls I know who actually get the significance of that logo work there. =)

Good to know I actually did recall something correctly... my memory does weird things anymore with stuff, like the mystical force that randomly causes one critical piece of hardware to disappear into the eternal sawdust of my shop floor.
