That's great news!  Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine.  I'm happy for you and kinda jealous at the same time.  That's a step I've yet to take.
Looking forward to the pictures.

Andrew, I still remember my first gig, back in the early 70s, my band played a youth group church gig, the church elders didn't know how to take us, we played Alice Cooper stuff, I still remember singing Dead Babys and the power going off, coincidence, I don't think so!!!!.

have a great time on your first gig, and give them somthing to remember!!!!

Interesting choice for a church gig David.  Did you have Arthur Brown's Fire on the playlist also?

we were just kids, we didn't know any better, and still don't.

I agree with Ken- it should be FUN! I'm sure you'll have gigs in your future when it won't be so much fun but like anything else the first time is special....

My first paid gig was at this dive in SF The Mabuhae Gardens in the mid '80s, and we got almost no sound check from a rather stoned soundman. We were a 3-piece rock band (Gtr, Bass, Drums with some keyboards ala Rush)playing on their new wave night. The first song started, and the guitar player/singer walked up to the mike to start the first verse, and a blue bolt of electricity jumped from the mike to his lips! Needless to say, he was a little late starting the verse! The audience thought it was part of the show and loved it.

David, just kidding with you.  That's one of those things that's fun to look back on.  You know, do you remember when...  I really did laugh out loud when I read your post about Alice Cooper.

Ah, those first gigs...great memories, great times, great people. I can't believe it's been 24 yrs. since that first one for me (time flies when you're having fun). Andrew, will you be playing the new Epic that night?? If so, give us a review of your 'Alembic experience'. Good luck.
Chris

Brother Andrew,

stay with the root man!
Or ...who told that joke here a bassplayer counting? 1-5, 1-5, 1-5, 1-5
HA!

Anyway ...don't get crisped on stage and try to be relaxed. You have to know this: YOU are doing on that moment something 99.9% of the audience can't do better leave alone do AT ALL!
So ...

first payed Gig??
You will not believe this: on the 6th of march 2001!

Oh ..here you are Brother David ...did you get my mail??? BTW ...for some reason I can completely understand the power went down when you fired up your rig ;-)

Paul the bad one

Andrew, if I wait until I'm compared to Les Claypool, don't hold your breath, Brother!

Sounds like you had a great time.  Here's to a long future of making music (I'm raising my bottle now).
