Title: Fat Freddy's Drop in the UK
Post by: tbrannon on April 01, 2008, 08:06:06 PM
These guys are a NZ based Dub/Reggae band- became one of my favorites while I was living there.  If you've got some free time I highly recommend them-

They'll be playing a few dates in the UK starting in April.  Dates/venues can be found on their website:

EDIT: and a few  YouTube sample videos  (http://youtube.com/results?search_query=fat+freddy%27s+drop&search_type=) for those not familiar

Watching this one (http://youtube.com/watch?v=6iEQfSmT1QE).  Nice; thanks!

While watching, I realized there's no drummer; they're playing to a recorded percussion track.  There also doesn't appear to be a bass player; the bass lines are either played on keyboard or are sampled as well.

Glad you're enjoying it Dave- YouTube has a link for  Wandering Eye (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCJg63SziL4) - Nobody in my house can sit still when it plays...always gets us groovin'

They need to extend their tour to incorporate the other 3 countries in the UK. I wouldn't mind seeing them but they're not coming very far north ;-(

Graeme,

I hadn't even bothered to check the actual venues and dates (seeing as how there is a large body of water between us).

It's too bad they won't be getting farther North- if you do happen to find yourself nearby have a gander- they're quite good live.
