Title: Oblivion Sun - old school prog comes to VA!
Post by: DaveD on June 04, 2008, 08:30:37 PM
Oblivion Sun, a progressive rock band featuring members of Happy The Man and Iluvatar comes to Jammin' Java in Vienna, VA on Saturday, July 5th.

Our music is reminiscent of Genesis, UK, Yes, Jeff Beck, Gentle Giant and King Crimson. I'll be playing my Elan 6-string for most of the show.

Sweet!  Even a greater list of influences over at the myspace site.  Nice job, belated congrats on your CD debut!

Thank you both for the nice comments. We have a lot of fun in this band. We always close every show with an improv and our label has expressed an interest in releasing a live CD of just the improvs.

For whomever might be curious...most of those tracks were recorded using my Elan 6 but there's also some fretless Spoiler on the record in addition to Thunderbird, Dean 10 and fretless 8 and Fender J bass overdubbed in. The CD is available at iTunes as well as most finer retailers.

Prog on!
