That's right, I played a gig at the White House this week!!
The usual disclaimer: I didn't play an Alembic. I played baritone sax. But still....
In another thread (http://alembic.com/club/messages/396/54448.html?1218168904 target=_blank), I mentioned a wedding we played at the Bush compound in Kennebunkport. They liked us enough to invite us to play at the Congressional Ball, the White House's annual Christmas party, held December 8. It was a little at-home, held in the East Room, for some 800!
A write-up is here (http://evergreen.loyola.edu/geo/www/white_house.htm target=_blank). There are some pictures, but I'm still working on getting more, along with the set list.

Thanks, George, for this absolutely amazing story, in all it's glorious detail! I'm looking forward to seeing the set list.
Way to go!

In the general spirit of Club members cluttering the area without actually bringing their Alembic to share the fun, two weeks ago I was just one block away on Pennsylvania Av, at the Willard, for a week-end. Not at my own expenses, I should add.

Congrats from an old trombone player

Wow! Great story!
One of the more interesting parts was this little exchange:
?Nobody told us to expect you; your contractor really screwed up!? he said, along with some eye rolling and head shaking. He said this just as the social secretary, coming to vouch for me, came up behind him. ?Look,? she said, ?I've been working my ass off on this since 6:00am, and I don't need that kind of shit from you!?

I updated the web page with a link to the set list (http://tinyurl.com/6gzadg target=_blank). (Yeah, we'll play anything; we even have a big-band arrangement of Stairway to Heaven.)
