Title: Petty Theft
Post by: dadabass2001 on July 13, 2009, 05:34:21 PM
So, I just picked up a side gig playing with a Tom Petty cover band, Petty Theft. Actually we do Petty plus Mellencamp plus a little Eagles, Thin Lizzy, Cars, etc.
My first gig with them is tomorrow night (Tuesday) at Chicago City Limits in Schaumburg, IL. We're headlining, so we go on about 10 pm. I'll be playing my fretted Epic.

With Petty Theft and Kick Back City on the bill, it's another night of crime and corruption.

Have fun mike. Again, I'd have been there but I'll be driving up to Skye for Big Tuna's holiday weekend 'tour' ;-)

Let's see some pictures from these gigs.

Kick Back City?  A Rory Gallagher tribute perhaps?

Yep, Dave welcome to Chi-town. What... you gotta problem wid dat?
Actually, we doubled with them at the Chicago City Limits gig (that's a club here). They do classic and arena rock covers, so more likely to hear Journey, Styx and Kansas, etc..
Hey Jacko, I loved the pictures of your outdoor show last weekend - just beautiful to play by the sea. It reminded me of a film I just saw on Sundance Channel  called Touch The Sound about Scottish percussionist Evelyn Glennie. Too beautiful for words, it made me mist up sitting here listening to her playing with people around the world. Sadly I don't own a camera, but if somebody takes snaps, I'll post them here or on myspace.

Have a great gig mike. I'll be playing another wedding in Alloa so I'm willing to bet you'll enjoy yours more than I do.

Thanks Graeme,
Have fun with your show too! My enjoyment level will depend on the Temperature/Humidity Index for Chicago's south side tomorrow (yesterday it felt like 97?F, I was melting)

Well, it's been a dry spring, gig-wise in my area.
I'm  playing with Petty Theft again as part of a triple bill at Shark City in Glendale Heights on Friday May 20th. The line-up is Kickback City, Petty Theft (we go on about 9:30) and Hard Times. We're each doing 1 set. If you're in the western Chicago area, stop on out and say hi.
