Hello all,
I've just recently joined a band that some of you may remember from the 70's-80's - Crack The Sky. I was a huge fan of theirs as a kid and I'm totally stoked to now have the gig.
My 1st shows with them will be:
Friday, April 22 @ Club 66 - Edgewood, MD
Saturday, April 23 @ Ram's Head Live - Baltimore, MD.
The Club 66 show is a warm up show at a small intimate venue whereas the following night's show is at a much larger venue which typically hosts national acts.
I'll be playing my trusty Scorpion/Distillate (you can see pics of her in the main group under the heading My Distillate is now a white noise generator). Thankfully, she is fixed and sounding wonderful as ever.
FYI - original CTS bassist Joe Macre was a Series I player so I'm happy to be bringing an Alembic back to the band's sound after all these years.
Anyone in the MD area wishing to attend the Ram's Head show can purchase tickets here:

Congratulations Dave! I LOVE Crack The Sky!! I didn't know they were still together! Safety In Numbers was one of my favorite LP's from my childhood. I have been searching for a CD of it, but can only find the 21st Century Redux version. If you know where I can get an original version, please let me know! I hope you play Houston, TX someday soon!

Know them well, great band. Congratulations Dave!

Thanks, Art and Rusty!
I believe the original SIN album is available on iTunes. As for a CD, I don't know if it was ever issued on CD but I'll ask at the next rehearsal. I'm sure there's original vinyl floating around the various used record shops here in MD, though that doesn't do you much good.
I too hope we can play TX someday. It looks like Ohio is the closest we'll get for a while. ;-(
Btw, as you'll see on iTunes, CTS has been releasing CDs pretty regularly. The latest is called Machine and has some very strong material on it. There's also a live DVD out from 2008 which is very good as well.
Cheers,
D

Thanks Dave! I just downloaded SIN on iTunes! I don't know why I never thought of checking there! Tell your bandmates y'all have fans in Texas, come on down!
-
Good luck, say hi to Glenn for me, I play with him sometimes.

Hey Dave, hope your gigs with Crack The Sky are going well! Here's a picture from my gig last night, doing my part to keep CTS alive in Houston!

Rusty - that's way cool! I'll forward this to the rest of the band! Sweet bass, btw...
And yes, the 1st 2 gigs went really well. The Friday was a sell out and the Sat missed the mark by only a few. Next shows are in June.

[There you go - just the one copy of the picture now!]

Thanks Dave! Glad to hear it's going well! Tell the band y'all need to come to Texas! I love your bass too! I've never seen one like that, what model is it?
-
Adriaan - thanks for the editing.
Rusty - that's a Scorpion bodied Distillate. The knobby headstock, pistol-grip horns and heart omega combine to make the Scorpion shape. This bass sounds Uh-May-Zing!
-
Hey Dave, it looks amazing too! I love the body shape! Do you have that Houston tour booked yet? LOL!
-
Nice shot of the Distillate!
