Hey all!

I have ordered a 6 string from the mother ship so putting up the Europa I got from Brian. Pricing it the same as I got from him, $3500 for club members only. I'll post some pictures later but here's a link to Brian's for sale thread: https://club.alembicguitars.com/index.php?topic=26852.msg272984#msg272984

Somebody should jump on this.  This is a price from about ten years ago and a beautiful instrument!

I imagine that the build will take some time.  Are you sure you want to let go of your Europa now?

And yes, that price is way below market.

May as well start the process of selling. It can be slow sometimes and that's okay. I have a 6 string Orion fretless if I just "need" a six string Alembic. So I'm covered if it sells quickly.

as i told my bandmates, if i was younger or a little more experimental i'd snap this up in a heartbeat.  sadly, my 5-string fterless quest continues on unfullfilled.  must. stay. focused.

good luck to all!
Been down...now i'm out!

Thanks all!

I recorded this EP with the Europa if you'd like to take a listen to how it sounds for hard rock. One tune was recorded with my Series I but you can get a good idea of this instrument.

Can't understand why this wasn't sold long ago. Nice looking and gorgeous sounding Europa that you're selling for approximately half of what these now go for on Reverb. Only reason I sold the bass is that Im a small guy and my hands just couldn't get comfortable with the wide neck of a sixer. Five is the max for me, but if your 6 feet tall and have hands proportional to your height Dan is asking for you to steal this from him. And he's selling it at exactly the very reasonable price he bought it from me several years ago while the prices of other Alembics have sky rocketed.

Thank you, Brian. It's a wonderful sounding instrument and you are correct, it's priced to MOVE! I guess I could post some pictures of the bass. May help. Also I haven't really advertised the sale much. Just here and a single mention on the Alembic fans facebook.

Here is a shot of the Europa next to my Orion fretless.

Very nice bass.  I already have a Essence 6er and an Orion 6 fretless.....can anyone tell me the difference in sound of an Essence & a Europa?

I think if you have a standard maple walnut neck on your Essence you will find that bass to be a bit warmer in tone than the purpleheart striped neck of the Europa that produces a stronger fundamental and a bit more of that Alembic "piano-like" tone. Because of dual low pass filters and Q switches it provides more capabilities with respect tonal flexibility. BUT...a trade off in that it's a heavier. I was using it as part of a group back then playing a lot of 70s classic rock (think Allman Brothers). It really cut through the mix a lot better than anything else I had.

When I purchased the Europa I was also looking at an Essence. I had only had a chance to play new versions of each at a shop for a few minutes (and I wasn't playing them through a very good system) but you could hear the difference. It was subtle and a musician would easily be able to differentiate but Im unsure whether when played in a group format anyone in the audience could. To be honest, I chose to purchase this used version primarily because I liked the Europa body shape and maple body lams more that the shape and wood of the used Essence I was considering. I know, not the best way to buy a instrument.
