One small point (Hopefully it's not too late).  I'd like to avoid those holes in the backplate for the trimpot adjustments.  I wouldn't mind simply removing the backplate to make any adjustments.
 
I'd just wouldn't like to see holes in that beautiful wood.

As you know already, the holes were drilled immediately after the plate was cut, so there wasn't a chance. Without holes, you'd actaully have to remove the preamp from the plate to make adjustments. It's important to have the access holes because it keeps everything shielded while you're making an adjustment.    Under the warmer lights in the setup room:    

   

    Last week, I came walking up the hallway first thing and your bass was in the rack waiting for preset (inlays and hardware plating). I guess I hadn't had my morning coffee yet, but I was puzzled at the weird dark tobacco burst Rogue. When I got closer, I realized it was your bass! Valentino made a similar comment, so maybe it was something in the air! It is very dark, and very beautiful.    (Message edited by mica on December 07, 2003)

I was up at the factory on Friday (Jan 30th) and saw this bass in person. It is TRULY stunning! Val let me pick it up, and man was it HEAVY!!! (ie, you should love it) I also saw the Dark Prince while I was there. I was suprised that the 36 scale length wasn't really an issue with me, but I prefer narrow necks, and this bass certainly didn't have that. ( although, how else are you going to get six strings on it?)
 
I guess you'll be having to settle for the Evil Twin until this completes...

Thanks!  I hope if you got the chance to try the Dark Prince, that you noticed it's exceptional sustain.  That's the best feature of it's weight and scale length.    
   
I actually find it's neck quite slim and narrow for a 6.  By comparison, the neck on my Lado 606 feels wide like a freeway overpass.  (That also goes for every Smith 6 that I ever tried.)

Thanks! Actually, I didn't even plug your's in. I had a limited amount of time (practice was that night, and I wanted time to pack my gear).I just really wanted to get a feel for the weight, and I was curious about how the extended scale would affect fingering. Yeah, for a six it really is pretty slim. That's one of the reasons I'm staying with a four stringer. For six string parts, we'll know who to call.

the bass is looking fabulous (but then all your Rogues look fabulous). All I can say is you must have one heckuva spinal column (or an incredible strap). I have to sit down just thinking about those woods....I'd love to hear what that combination sounds like though.

Sure have. Yesterday James and I were admiring the knobs. Bob made some really nice ones! It's in the spray department now.  
 
Yesterday I also found out that the jeweller needs to retool for the 24k gold. He said the details just weren't coming out. James is proceeding with the script inlay so he can get the hardware prepared for the plater while we wait for the logo. We'll have everything done that can be done at this time.

Will it's plates also be refinished?  They were uneven and didn't match the body.  The pickups as well.
I was also wondering if we can replace the old Rogue electronics on it to the newer, quieter ones at the same time. That'll be one less set to send.
 
For the Black Byrd, the script inlay will be like Evil Twin's right?  It's a larger and fancier look that I really like.

Yes, you had asked for it to match ET as closely as possible.  The pickups never had the same finish as the the top of the bass. They had the polyurethane Epic style finish. I'll ask Bob to refinish the pickups too. The plates of course are in the spray department as well.
